Longevity and family legacy were the driving forces behind this design. Tailored for a growing family of five, our intention was to accommodate its young children, and the extended family, well into the future.
It’s the temptation of any architect to make a bespoke home a showpiece. Though it’s often restraint that makes a design truly spectacular. For this family home, great care was taken in providing a natural and neutral materiality, privacy and a more modest street presence.
Emphasis on apertures to garden and landscaped elements created a natural buffer to the street, while contrasting flexible spaces – indoor/outdoor and public/private – were orientated to embrace the north-easterly aspect. Consisting of of terraces and courtyards, the private garden and swimming pool were orientated towards the harbour and the Balmoral slopes.
